25 Sep Stay-at-Home Safari at Nambiti Plains
A stay-at-home safari? How does that work? At Nambiti Plains, it’s simple; a stay-at-home safari means that there’s no need to go on a game drive to spot amazing wildlife; you can have fascinating sightings of animals and birds from the comfort of your own room or while enjoying Nambiti’s expansive deck.
“We all loved our visit to Nambiti Plains. The reserve has spectacular scenery, and the lodge’s position in front of a waterhole means that game are visiting while you watch from the deck. The service of all the staff is exemplary. The rooms are light and relaxing, and we loved the deck leading from our room.” – TripAdvisor
Nambiti Plains Lodge is situated overlooking the vast plains of the Nambiti Big 5 Private Game Reserve. We’re also lucky to have a waterhole right in front of us; a favourite spot for animals big and small to come and have a drink and cool down. Relax with a cocktail on the deck or take a dip in the swimming pool and watch as the animals quietly drink and bathe in the waterhole.
Because the lodge is unfenced, wildlife can wander right up to the lodge. You could see nyala nibbling from the indigenous trees in the ‘gardens’, a warthog whizzing by, or you may even be lucky enough to watch the breeding herd of elephants come for their “regular” drink from the pool.
“What a fantastic experience! Beautiful setting at a waterhole, rooms tastefully decorated, wonderful bathrooms with outdoor and indoor showers, and peace and quiet. Only ’disturbance’ is the lion’s distant roars, game walking past your verandah and the birds doing their thing.” – TripAdvisor
Your room also has its own private deck, another perfect spot for a stay-at-home safari – and even a stay-in-bed safari! With each room’s clear glass doors, you can look for wildlife while enjoying a cup of tea in bed!
“We frequently saw wildlife from our patio and also from the main lodge deck.” – TripAdvisor
Two daily game drives are included in your stay, but you are equally welcome to choose to enjoy a stay-at-home safari, relaxing and wildlife-watching from the comfort of a deck chair.
