COVID-19 We are Open!

While our Lodge was closed due to the South African Government’s lockdown regulations last year, we were carefully planning protocols and procedures to protect our guests and staff. We also used the time to engage with and train staff, and to renovate and upgrade our Lodge. Our entire team adheres to the strictest hospitality protocols issued by The Tourism Business Council of South Africa as well as World Health Organisation recommendations. We have taken extensive additional measures to ensure complete peace of mind for our guests by enforcing strict Covid-19 policies which includes (amongst others) daily sanitizing of all main areas, rooms, back of house areas and vehicles with a specialized machine; alcohol sanitizers of 70% and higher available throughout the property; adequate social distancing (including not filling our safari vehicles), as well as wearing of masks and protective equipment.

A heartfelt thank you to our loyal guests, staff, suppliers and family for your continual support. Even though it was a challenging year, we are excited to be operational again and can’t wait to host you! Our dedicated team is on hand should you have any questions or to address any concerns. We look forward to meeting you and once again create magical bush memories.

Great food, great staff, and unforgettable memories An incredible safari experience. Our tour guide (Jason) was knowledgeable and extremely personable! I like that they keep you with the same guide for your entire stay. We managed to find all of the big tickets items! Elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos, and more! No safari outing was without fun discoveries. It was also fun tracking and trying to find the animals with our guide. Each safari trip comes with a scenic stop for either alcohol or coffee/tea. Food was also incredible, the meals were consistently amazing and the chefs were able to adjust the meals to fit preferences and restrictions. Between safari snacks and meals we were able to try Warthog, Kuru, Ox tails, Ostrich, and various dungs! Lodgings were great. Each lodging had a gorgeous view. Often cool animals such as giraffes would wander right up to your windows and in front of the lodge to drink from the pond. The rooms themselves had great accommodations, some of them had private outdoor showers! The entire staff were all extremely attentive and memorized our (confusing) names in hours. They were so friendly that you can feel comfortable approaching them for anything you need. It is hard to do this lodge justice as there are so many small extra little things that they do to make your stay amazing that I could not list them all! Though particularly appreciated was the after safari shots!

Best Safari Trip Amazing! We had Jason as our guide, and he exceeded our expectations. He took us in the best tour, where we saw breathtaking views of giraffes, lions, cheetahs, elephants, and Cape buffalo in the four days we were there. He was so much fun and ensured we were having a great time with his hospitality, knowledge of the animals, and pleasant conversation. The chefs at the lodge were also exquisite-we all had a wonderful time!

Excellent game lodge This is a really good game lodge which is very good value for money. Our spacious room had an amazing view and animals often came right past our deck. In the main building food and drink were always available. All three meals were very good with a good choice of food. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. All the grounds were immaculate and the deck in front of the dining room had a view of a watering hole where we saw many animals drinking, including a giraffe. Our ranger, Jonno, ensured we saw four of the big five, leopards are always elusive. Additionally, there was a wide range of antelopes, birds, a hippopotamus and a serval which was a rare sighting.

Our only regret is not staying longer! This was the highlight of our two weeks in ZA! Jason, our guide, was top notch and the staff at the lodge were the sweetest. The food here is fantastic and the room was next level. We will return sooner than later to see the beautiful animals and experience everything this hidden gem has to offer again!

A dream stay! 🤩🇿🇦 We arrived from Switzerland with my wife and stayed at Nambiti Plains for 8 nights and it was a fantastic experience! This is without a doubt the best trip my wife and I have taken. The staff took great care of us and did everything to make our stay unforgettable. They are attentive and will do everything to make you feel at home. The food is excellent and it was a treat every time. There are two safaris per day which are included in the price and their rangers are so kind and caring. We had the chance to meet ranger Jason Swart who introduced us to animal beauty with humor and good humor on a daily basis! A big thanks to him. We definitely recommend booking your stay with Nambiti Plains, you won’t regret it. We will come back for sure!

Magical safari! Our family of four stayed for four nights ahead of a wedding in Durban. We had a fabulous stay. The staff were so kind. The food is incredible. The rooms are stunning. Our 2 rooms with shared entrance were perfect for families. We joined Jono and our friends joined Jason- both absolutely superb. Every drive was fabulous and unforgettable. Some of our sightings were jaw dropping. Sharing the pool with the elephants was an obvious highlight! Would highly recommend a smaller lodge like this rather than a larger one that would feel less personal. Jono struck a great camaraderie with our 12 year old son. Be prepared for some serious separation anxiety when you have to leave. We were very sad to wave Jono, the rest of the staff and Nambiti Plains goodbye and would love to go back. Huge thank you for a terrific stay.

Amazing experience - luxurious but cosy and chilled vibe. We booked here for part of our honeymoon trip from the UK as a recommendation from a friend. This is a really special place. The setting is beautiful overlooking the bush with an outdoor terrace with comfy seats and a pool. We were visited by two adult giraffes and their baby right infront of the terrace during our stay! The room was amazing, we booked one of the honeymoon suites which was pure luxury and the wonderful Nambiti Plains team even filled the bath up with candles and flowers ready for our arrival back from our afternoon safari ❤️ The team are amazing. Everyone from the front of house, chefs (food is great and catered for dairy free request!), to our lovely host Bettie and our great safari guide Jason. They make you feel like part of the family. We saw Lions, white and black rhino, giraffes, zebras, elephants, Serval, warthogs, Kudu and even a hippo! Jason was fantastic, really knowledgable and a great laugh! On many occasions he decided not to follow the convoy of vehicles and go on his own route following tracks which resulted in us seeing so many animals including the lions and rhino! He can spot them as tiny dots in the distance - amazing! We will 100% be back!

Completely outstanding! Over the years we have stayed at several private game reserves and we rate the Nambiti plains lodge as one of the best. As soon as we had parked our car we were met by our friendly guide, Jason, who drove us to the lodge itself. There, we were greeted by the manager, Magdal and her assistant, Betty, who gave us a warm towel and a welcome drink. This characterised the whole experience as very personal and individual. We really felt like private guests where nothing was too much trouble. Our lodge room was a beautiful thatched house with its own small water hole, an outside area for sitting, a freestanding bath, two wash basins and a shower together with a large 4 poster double bed brilliantly equipped with mosquito Nets. There was also good Wi-Fi. Our room was a short walk from the main lodge where there was a dining area, a small shop, a lounge area, an open terrace where we ate breakfast and lunch and a lovely swimming pool in front of the water hole. On one afternoon we saw an elephant come to the water all to have a drink! All the meals were outstanding! The real treasure of staying at Nambiti were the game drives with our expert guide, Jason. Generally, there were six to eight of us in the vehicle and we always stopped for a drink as the game drive came to an end. We saw all sorts of wildlife close up including a lion and lioness (and later four lion cubs) two herds of elephants, 2 white rhino, three hippo in a lake, wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, Kudu, eland, and lots of antelope. The morning game drive started at 5:30 AM and generally saw us returning to the lodge at about 8:00 AM. The evening game drive started at 4:30 PM and typically ended at about 7:30 PM. The game drives were relaxed, fun and our guide Jason could not have been more knowledgeable and helpful in explaining things. All in all, this was a superb 3 day safari experience and one that I would recommend to anybody. Interestingly, one couple who joined us on the game drive had returned after several years absence and we're staying for five nights.
