Nambiti Plains

24 Hours at Nambiti Plains

Nambiti Plains is a beautiful lodge in a beautiful environment, with wonderful food and friendly staff. The game drives with Jason were amazing. Our 20-year-old daughter described the experience as ‘the best three days of my life’.” – TripAdvisor

Although each day follows the gentle rhythm of the bush, a day spent at Nambiti Plains is never without its surprises.

Here’s what you can expect at Nambiti Plains on the reserve on a daily basis … but with the wonder and wildness of the African bush thrown in, no day is ever quite the same!

05:15 Wake-up call

In the early morning, you will receive a wake-up knock from one of our staff members, welcoming you into the fresh African morning. You’ll gather in the main lodge where you can enjoy some tea/coffee and biscuits before leaving for your morning drive.

05:30 The bush awaits

Huddle up with a warm blanket on the safari vehicle and head out into the new morning. The adventure of the bush awaits – you never know what you are about to see. Perhaps you will spot a jackal or herd of buffalo? Or maybe it is the intricate work of a dung beetle that will hold your attention on a Nambiti Plains’ slow-lane safari, where we take the time to appreciate all aspects of the bush.

As the first rays of the mighty African sun begin to peek over the horizon, your guide will find you a perfect sun-up spot for a hot drink and rusks in the bush.

08:30 Breakfast

Upon arrival back at the camp, the chefs will have a breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt and their famous home‐made muesli waiting for you. This will be followed by a cooked hot breakfast of your choice, giving you ample time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and recount the morning’s sightings.

10:00 Time to relax

Breathe out and enjoy the rest of the morning relaxing on the deck with a book (no judgement for snoozers here!) or taking a dip in the pool overlooking the waterhole. You may even be lucky enough to see the elephants taking a bath while you watch from the pool. If you prefer some privacy, you can retire to your own luxurious room and private deck with views spanning over the savannah.

13:30 – 14:30 Lunch is served

Enjoy a light, refreshing lunch al fresco on the deck. Remember to always keep an eye on the horizon (and even a few metres away from you) for animals going about their daily business near the lodge.

16:00 Head out into the afternoon

Later in the day, your guide will meet you in the restaurant for enticing afternoon tea with home-made cakes at a pre-arranged time, before you depart for your exciting evening game drive to see what you can find. You may spot a pride of lions relaxing in the afternoon sun or a rhino cooling off in a waterhole. You may see an owl on the prowl or a mongoose darting off into the bush. It’s the element of surprise that makes the African bush so appealing.

When the time is just right, your guide will pull the vehicle over for you to watch the great African sunset, while you sip on a gin and tonic and snack on delicious biltong, nuts and dried fruit.

18:30 – 19:00 Arrive back to a romantic camp

By night, the romantically-lit camp will take your breath away. You’ll have a chance to freshen up before being summoned to dinner by the rhythmic beat of drums. Enjoy a chef-prepared, three-course dinner served either in the boma under the stars, in the cosy dining room or on the deck.

21:00 Quiet reflection

Indulge in an after-dinner drink or enjoy a spot of star-gazing while you reflect on the adventures of the day in the company of your fellow travellers. When you are ready to retire, your guide will walk you back to your luxurious suite where you can fall asleep between crisp linen, to the calming sounds of the African bush surrounding you.

“What a memorable anniversary weekend! The lodge management and staff ensured we felt welcome and well cared for, always friendly and engaging. We had a wonderful room, every comfort was seen to, nothing more we could have asked for. We frequently saw wildlife from our patio and also from the main lodge deck.

Meals are to be looked forward to, especially lazy breakfasts or lunches overlooking the waterhole. Meals were of good variety and well prepared.

The game drives were a highlight and we looked forward to what we could see and learn on each drive with our knowledgeable and helpful guide, Ted. Warm water bottles and blankets with a bush coffee stop made the early morning outing a wonderful way to start the day. A sundowner overlooking a dam and appreciating the sunset was great for winding down before commencing a moonlit ride back to the lodge. Would visit gladly again in future.” – TripAdvisor
