Along with the twice-daily game drives included in your stay, guests wishing to experience the wild in other ways have a chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of the African bush. 

Bush walks in the Wild

Walking through the bush with your guide adds a whole new dimension to your safari as you have the opportunity to view smaller fauna and flora, animal tracks, dung, insects and other elements of the bush that may be missed on a game drive. 

We offer two bush walk packages: 

• Three-Hour Bush Walk – Set out with your ranger, tracking animals and have the opportunity to experience the wild bush on foot. This package costs R750 per person and typically lasts 3 – 4 hours.
• Six-Hour Bush Walk – After an early breakfast and departing at 07h00, this walk will continue until lunchtime, giving you more opportunity to explore even more hidden areas. This package includes snacks and juice, and costs R950 per person.

Important Information & Requirements

• Early booking is recommended.
• Bush walks are subject to availability and weather conditions.
• Bush walks are limited to a maximum of four guests per ranger.
• Fitness – All guests must be at a level of reasonable fitness.
• Clothing – Comfortable, closed walking shoes are mandatory. Guests should also wear neutral colours. Long pants are recommended.
• Age – No children under the age of 16 will be allowed to walk. Guests over the age of 65 years old must provide a doctor’s certificate of good health.
• Indemnity – Guests will be required to sign an indemnity form before embarking on a walk.

Private Romantic Dinners

Lit by candlelight and starlight, we can arrange a romantic private dinner for you and your loved one on your private deck overlooking the wild African bush below. You’ll be treated to a three-course meal for just the two of you, surrounded by the sounds of the wild. This package also includes a romantic turndown with a bubble bath, a bottle of Method Cap Classique on ice, special snacks and a private dinner on your deck under the stars. Recommended for stays of 3 nights or longer.

Bush picnics

Spectacular picnic somewhere in the Nambiti Bush. Includes open game viewer transfer through the reserve, bush picnic (either on the traditional way or with table and chairs), private chef and/or host. Recommended for stays of 3 nights or longer.

River lunch

This need to be booked in advance and subject to availability. Here we set up tables and chairs and a chef host them. This is then booked at the cascades.

Private game drives

Enjoy the bush at your own pace by reserving your own private game drive during your stay. This is a perfect opportunity for keen photographers and birders – stop when you want, where you want, for as long as you want to get the shot or find that elusive bird species. 

Stargazing

While on safari in the evening, your guide will take the opportunity to point out and discuss the night skies. The Milky Way is a phenomenal sight to behold on a clear night, and the plethora of constellations such as Orion, Taurus the Bull, the Southern Cross, Scorpio and many others will keep you in wonder.

Bass fishing

 (Fully tailor-made activity, 2½ hour, minimum 2 pax) – Daily
During the summer months, the dams and rivers are alive with a variety of Large‐Mouth Bass, Small‐Mouth Bass, and Tilapia. Relax and take a break for an hour or two with a rod in one hand and a beverage in the other, immerse yourself in the tranquillity and sounds of the bush. Fishing is on a catch‐and‐release basis. Available at any time of the day and can be fit in between morning and evening game drives. Two drinks per person and snacks included R220 per person.

Night drives

With a pre-booked night drive, you’ll have a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush at night. You will have the opportunity to see the more elusive nocturnal animals’ resident on the Nambiti Reserve such as porcupine, large spotted genet, jackal, aardvark and the ever-elusive leopard. 

Day trip game drives

Just haven’t got enough time to join us for two days? Looking to do something different with the family? Take them on an awe‐inspiring day trip game drive on Nambiti Game Reserve. Day trip game drives are typically 3 – 4 hours long and include a stop to stretch the legs and have a drink out in the bush.

Start times are normally 06h00 for the morning drive and 15h30 for an evening safari, with guests required to be at the lodge 30 minutes prior to departure. Time variations and group bookings can be arranged. Game drives are R550 per person for up to 4 people and an additional charge of R4,000 per private drive (5 – 9 people).
